The name MOMO, short for Moretti-Monza, taken from Gianpiero Moretti, the founder’s last name and Monza the renowned race track in Italy, where the company still operates from. The first Momo steering wheel quickly became a hot topic in the racing scene when Moretti himself equipped it in his race car back in 1964. It’s thick grip and considerably smaller diameter than available steering wheels is what caught the eye of other drivers. One driver who early saw the potential in Moretti's steering wheel was Ferrari's F1 driver John Surtees. That same year he won the F1 world title using the Momo steering wheel.
